NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt volleyball team will take the court for the first time in more than 45 years Friday at Brentwood High School in an exhibition match versus Tennessee.
The Commodores’ spring squad consists of 10 freshmen, two sophomores, one junior and two graduate students. Outside Kamryn Chaney, the 2024 Ivy League Player of the Year, joined Vandy’s team in January along with 2024 Missouri Girls Volleyball Gatorade Player of the Year Maya Witherspoon and the program’s first Nashville recruit, Kayla Dunlap.
The Volunteers (15-12, 8-8 SEC in 2024) are coming off their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and first serve is slated for 7 p.m. The match is free and open to the public, and seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. Concessions will not be available due to NCAA rules. Fans are permitted to bring cushions for the bleachers.
Teams will play five sets regardless of scoring. The match will be livestreamed on YouTube.
Additional spring exhibition matches for the Commodores include March 28 at 6:30 p.m. CT versus Louisville at Elizabethtown High School and at Lipscomb on April 4 at 6:30 p.m. Both matches are free and open to the public.
Vanderbilt’s final spring event will be April 12 at 2 p.m. CT versus Purdue at Fishers Event Center in Indianapolis. Ticket purchase will give fans access to the exhibition, Indy Ignite Fan Fest and the PVF match between Indy Ignite and Grand Rapids Rise.
