Panarin Selected for CSC Academic All-District Team

Sophomore adds to honors with Academic All-District selection

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis sophomore Danil Panarin was named as an Academic All-District selection, announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.

To be eligible for the honor, players must compete in more than half of the team’s dual matches while maintaining a GPA above 3.5. Panarin played in 21 of Vandy’s 26 overall matches while finishing his sophomore season with a 3.74 GPA.

The Moscow, Russia native put together a 10-9 record across dual match play, with five of those wins coming over ranked opponents. Panarin knocked off No. 48 Lukas Palovic of Arkansas for his highest ranked victory of the season. He reached No. 22 in the ITA singles rankings while also climbing to a No. 43 ranking alongside junior Nathan Cox in doubles. Panarin adds to his list of honors after bringing home an SEC Freshman of the Year award last season in addition to All-Freshman Team and All-SEC Second Team recognition.

Vanderbilt achieved at least a 3.6 team GPA in both semesters this season under head coach Scott Brown; the Dores finished with a 3.73 GPA in the spring. It is the second consecutive year a player from the men’s tennis program has earned CSC Academic All-District honors with Brown at the helm.
