NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mark H. Carter and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mark Byington announced the addition of graduate guard Frankie Collins on Thursday.
A 6-foot-2 guard from Sacramento, California, Collins spent his senior season at TCU in 2024-25. He played in nine games before suffering a season-ending injury against Vanderbilt in the Coast-to-Coast Challenge. Collins averaged 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game prior to the injury.
“Frankie cares about winning and will do whatever it takes to win,” said Byington. “He has the ability to impact the game in every area. I love his experience and poise, which is definitely needed in the SEC. Ever since committing to Vandy, Frankie has embraced his role as a leader and wants that responsibility.”
Collins scored a season-high 18 points against NCAA Tournament foe Colorado State and also pulled down a season-best eight rebounds in the contest. He produced five or more assists in five of his nine games last season, including a season-best seven against the Dores despite breaking his foot in the first half.
Prior to his senior season at TCU, Collins spent two years at Arizona State. He started 32 games as a junior in 2023-24 and averaged 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 steals per game for the Sun Devils. He scored a career-best 25 points at Cal and reached double figures in 29 games. Collins was also named Pac-12 All-Defense after leading the conference in steals.
In his sophomore season at Arizona State, Collins averaged 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists over 35 games. He scored in double figures on 19 occasions, including a 12-point, 11-assist double-double against San Diego. Collins helped lead the Sun Devils to the NCAA Tournament and a First Four victory over Nevada.
Collins began his collegiate career at Michigan where he played in 31 games as a freshman and helped the Wolverines to the Sweet 16.
